tx750 special interest site CAM CHAIN TENSIONER NOISE

A small problem associated with early 750's was a noise like excessive valve clearance at idle.

The cause of the problem turned out to be the cam chain tensioner rod hitting the adjuster screw.

The rod has been modified as in the drawing.

NOTE: NEW ROD CAN BE IDENTIFIED BY ITS LONGER REAR SECTION
(dimension A).

When installing cam chain tension with the new rod and damper installed set the rod 2mm below the end of the adjuster screw.

Paint the end of the rod for future reference.

A copper damper washer (No. 11) is also used to cut down any noise if the rod should hit the screw.
