NOTE: Refer to Parts List for reference number information.

1) Drain engine oil.

2) Remove battery and fuel tank.

3) Lay motorcycle on right side and block.

4) Remove L.H. engine side case, Ref. No. 19-1.

5) Remove alternator cover, Ref. No. 19-6.

6) Remove strainer cover at bottom of engine, Ref. No. 12-22.

7) Set pistons at approximately 90° BTDC. Note the position of balancer weight No. 2. Attach dial indicator solidly to motorcycle. Position indicator to small weight (No. 2) as shown. Rotate weight back and forth. Replace chain if movement exceeds 3.5 mm.

8) Remove allen-head bolts from both balancer weights.
