TX750                         MISCELLANEOUS SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS (cont.)

CLUTCH. If operation faulty, proceed as follows:
 
1. Check clutch adjustment:
 
  a. Loosen clutch lever adjuster (lock) nut.
  b. Turn adjusting bolt completely into seat.
  c. Remove L. Crankcase Cover (2)
  d. Loosen adjuster (lock) nut
  e. Turn adjusting screw in, until lightly seated; back out 1/4 turn. Tighten adjuster nut and replace cover.
  f. Back cable adjusting bolt out until play at pivot point of lever is 2~3mm.
  g. Tighten adjuster nut.
 
2. Check cable routing.
 
  a. Clutch cable must be routed per Page 31, TX750 Assembly Manual and cable routing insert sheet, TX750 Service Manual.
  b. Check for kinked cable directly under front of engine. If damaged replace cable.
 
3. Check right crankcase cover
 
  a. The right crankcase cover has protrusion inside (See Drawing, right), which may interfere with clutch pressure plate movement. Remove 2~3mm for added clearance.
 
4. Change clutch plates.
 
  a. If, after performing steps 1~3, clutch operation remains "jerky", lacking smooth engagement, replace clutch plates with XS2 type, P/N 256-16325-00-00.
