In the very first beginning my first impression of a tx was a drunken night in cologne, where i was with a friend of mine. He had to go to cologne, because his bike engine has collapsed and we were up to take this little bike (a honda 125 cc) back home.in this garage - in a dark corner - she was. It was something like in the film "Christine". I saw and noticed, asked and got no detailled information. "how's the engine?" No answer. "Can we start the engine". No answer.

I went out of the garage and looked for the fuel tank in my car. In the garage i found a garden hose to suck fuel from my car and to supply the TX. It took me more than one suck from the tank to have the TX prefilled.

Where the hell is a battery to start? the red light for ingnition was only a glow. No answer. I turned the petcocks to "on" and jumped on the kickstarter. "Brrrr", "Brrr", "Go Baby ... Jump!" Hey, i had to stop action. This is NOT a lawnmower engine.

The next kick put her to life. I heard this idling sound and i melted away. This night i was confused and didn't sleep well. How to buy? Where to get the money? Two weeks later i fetched her home and was stunned, because all the bearing material was in the oil reservoir and after some detailed disassemblies i was sure this engine was completeley worn out.

Four weeks of disapointment passed. I found a note in "das Motorrad" of a person who was up to sell a complete set of TX engine and frame and added stuff. in the same way i was up to buy.

The story was very complex. As a student i changed some parts in the engine, oil pump, pistons, cooler, many things. These changes became public and i had a chance to apply for an engineering jop at BMW Motorbike development and afterwards i changed to BMW Motorsports. Now I am engineer and 48 years old and working as automotive consultant in cad engineering for Daimler Chrysler, Mercedes Benz and BMW Motorsports. I was working on the McLaren F1 engine, and for Porsche GT2 and McLaren SLR engine. I had more than one TX and I was the guy who has done the changes of oilfilter system, some mods on oilpump and bearings, pistons and improvements in valve train.

Due to my profession its easy for me to support technical request in my german TX Website and forum mentioned as linked here (whatever, the eye of the TX-hurricane ist here at Toby's :=), oh man, what for a collection of stuff)

Simply navigate http://www.c-work.de and look at the right side navigation bar, where the TX content resides.

The forum is here:

Feel free to go to the virtual TX Pub and have posted your questions, ideas, remarks and so on. I will try to help anybody, because i am sure, helping a person is it allways worth to do. We are looking to have a community without barriers, because i think it will take some efforts to remanufacture rare parts in order to have the TX running for the next 20 years.

All the best, good vibrations by Fritz
